My PS2 was modded by my sister's friend and she couldn't find him for me to verify which chip he used to mod my PS2. I used to play FFXI online so I purchsed this hard drive. I used the Utility Disc (V. 1.10) that came with the hard drive to format it. However, after I installed the hard drive and formattedit, I couldn't play any copies with the PS2 as if the mod chip is disabled. I want to install Free HDloader onto the hard drive, but my PS2 just say it is not a PS2 Disc. By the way, the Free HDloader is a DVD.

-Does anyone have the same problem?

-Is there a way to tell which chip that guy used to mod my PS2?

-Could I install the HDloader by force by using HD Dump with the
help of my pc?

I tried google and the search function of this forum, but I am not sure what keyword I should use to search since I am not sure what the problem is.

Thanks

Did you format the HDD when its in the PS2? Also what HDD is it? (brand, capacity)

To see what the chip is, the easiest way is to open up your PS2 (if you can't find the guy who did the midification)

It won't work, because you need HDLoader to load anything from the HDD, and since your HDLoader is in the HDD, you can't access it in the first place

My HDD is the one that comes with Final Fantasy XI. I guess it is Sony with 40Gb capacity. I formatted the hard drive while it is in my PS2.
I have the iso of HDloader, so is that possible to install it with my PC because my PS2 couldn't read any copies when I install the hard drive.
Wired thing is, when I remove the hard drive from the PS2, everything goes back to normal because I am able to play game copies and the Free HDloader could be loaded.

I'm guessing the utility disc probably has some sort of protection or something against modchips? Just a wild guess....

To format/load games onto your HDD, use Winhiip or HDL dump from the PC
