Hi,
I installed the above chip a couple of months ago and everything has been running fine until last night. The DVD Drive started to make some really horrible grunting noises and games seem to take ages to run. So I'm gonna go down the HD method, I have a Maxtor 120GB spare and I've just ordered the network adaptor thingy. My question is when this arrives (I've seen how to fit it together) how do I get games to boot? Do you connect it to a PC and use some form of software to download it? I've seen the words HDLoad and stuff used in here....... any one gimme some advice please.

HD Loader is the program i think you will need.
If you had the DMS4 Pro you would have everything you need with the ToxicOS it runs on.
But the ToxicBIOS that the Lite version uses does not have the same hard drive features as the Pro version.

Yeah, when I bought the ezi lite I never thought I would get into the whole HD thing but things change. In the ToxicBios I have a setting called HDD Evolution - So when I plug it all together I put HD Loader on a cd and boot from it???? How do I get things running?

never used HD loader so someone else my be better off answering that.
But from what i have heard you put HD Loader on the hard drive, then use it to run the games on the hard drive.

Thanks for the replies Steimy, you've been cool as always mate. Hopefully someone who's running DMS4 lite will suggest exactly what I have to do, if not I'll fly solo and "dig in" LOL I'm sure it can't be too much to fathom out.

I have the same set-up as you: DMS4 EZI-Lite, and a 120GB Maxtor hard drive. I have an HD Advance disc in the drive all the time, but if your drive stops working then this option won't work for you either.

I would check out the DMS forums (go to http://www.dms4.com/ and then click on the link to the forums) and they might have info there about using the HDD Evolution mode. If you get it working I'd be interested in knowing how, so that I don't have to have the HD Loader disc in there anymore.

As for loading images onto your hard drive, you can hook the hard drive up to your computer and then use a program called WinHiip (google it) to load images. It takes about 2 minutes per disc instead of 15-20 if you load them through the console.

Hi Krystovar, I've looked a little more at this and it has been suggested that you put HD Loader .elf file onto your memory card (which I just downloaded from Skapps) and use as you say that WINHIIP program to put ISO's on the HD, I have a HD casing thing so that bit shouldn't be a problem.... I have no idea how to get that .elf file onto my memory card tho. Hopefully others will add to this and we can both benefit mate.

There are images out there that you burn as a CD which put the file on your memory card. I have tried this and never gotten it to work (although other people have gotten it to work, so I don't know what I've done wrong the 50 times I tried it.)

You can also load an ftp server onto the hard drive using WinHIIP (I think it's called ExecFTP), and transfer the file to the memory card by ftp-ing into the PS2 from your PC. I haven't gotten this way to work either.
