I have a movie in avi format, and i want to convert to dvd, when winavi is open, i go and press the dvd icon, to convert avi to dvd, i go to the folder that has the movie, and everything freeze's, then ill try and play the movie and then i get this message:

explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows
you will need to restart the program.

An error log has been created.

I never had this problem before.

Avi2dvd Problem

Much the same as the last one, when i go to add my movie, i get this message:

Acess violation at address 00000000. read of address 00000000

I've tried alot of programs to see could i fix the problem, but no luck, had anyone this problem before?

nerovision and vso divxtodvd are my two favorite for those conversions....i mostly use divxtodvd, because it will leave the sound of the "spoken" dialogue a lil' higher than nerovision will..
nerovision link(trial): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/nero...

divxtodvd link(trial):

also make sure you scan that folder for any virus/spyware...if you right click on the avi file do you get any options(i.e. "Open With") or is just freezing when you open the folder and won't let you select anything?

June_0606: I tried WinAVI v7.5, no luck,

evnflow: I've scanned the folder and my whole system, in total i tryed 3 anti-virus and 4 spyware packeges, all came back clean, ive done system scan and other error software packages etc,etc.. no bad reports back from them.

If i right click the AVI file, i do get options, but after about 2 seconds i get an error message like above:

explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows
you will need to restart the program.

An error log has been created.

That error message pops up even if i try one of the options, Then the whole screen goes blue, and blinks for about another 2 seconds, ive also reinstalled the software and security patches that i installed, just incase that might be causing the problem, but no luck.

Note: What did work for me, so i could watch the film, but still cant convert to dvd with the software above, i created a shortcut link from the movie folder to my desktop.

lisa_8023: I would send it, but this is a problem i want to solve, just incase it ever happens again.

evnflow: Never had this problem before with any other program, i have moved it to another folder, but i have to right click and open to watch the movie, if i double click it, i get the same error message as above, but i still cant convert it to dvd.

check it with DivFix or DivXRepair( http://divxrepair.sourceforge.net/ or http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divfix.html )....it might be a conflict with the avi file...i quit using winavi...was too buggy...are you able to watch the movie at all? can you post the error log? also i would try using VSO divxtodvd...never had a problem with it...
