Hey guys, this is my first post here, I've been reading a lot of great tutorials here on how to get things working, and I really like all the help... so maybe I could get a little help here with my system.
I've got an older PS2 (NTSC) with Swap Magic 3.6 Plus. I downloaded several PAL games, knowing that I can boot PAL games on my NTSC system. That's kind of where the trouble lies though. What happens is the boot screen loads as normal, I swap the boot disc for the PAL ISO disc, select PAL from "Video Mode", go back up to where it says "Load Program", and press X to boot normally. Am I doing something wrong? What happens is the game boots in PAL, and the screen starts flickering way too fast for me to see anything.
I've also tried booting normally using NTSC from the Video Mode option, but that doesn't work as well. The only way I can get the game to load in NTSC is by selecting NTSC and pressing square to do a special boot. The thing is, when I boot this way, the screen is basically stretched top to bottom, so any text at the bottom of the screen (or a loading disc image at the bottom of the screen for instance) is cut in half.
What is the 100% no problems/stretch way to boot a PAL disc on an NTSC system? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Look at this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718. It will show you how to patch the game using a PAL to NTSC patcher with Y-Fix(should fix the stretched screen problem), unless your games have screen positioning.
