I have know ppl that had used DUO chips before no problem. But if i were u i would buy from another company. Like Divineo.com, mod-chip.com, ghost2fitter.co.uk , use resellerratings.com to see the stores rating if its not on there i wouldnt try buying from them. Also notice that chip says for version 1 - 8 if your consel isnt that look for another one there are alot of cheap ones out there. Check PS2 version here

And if u are not good at soldering u should have a pro do it or use swamp magic disk. Swamp Maagic disk are a hastle to use but still works good not as good as a modchip but... There are solderless modchips like DMS EZI those are like 50$-60$ but there are still a hastle to install

i can only put it one way really. If you pay for a $20 chip, you get a $20 chip.

If you want a top notch chip it will cost you more like $45-$50
DMS4 Pro, Matrix Infinity, Crystal Chip V1.1
Duo chips are good but that V1 is way outdated, and also doesn't have the features of the other chips like free flash upgrades that can keep your chip up to date with new features and fixes.
If you do plan to get a Duo chip then find a store selling a newer one like the Duo2SE or the newest Duo2 GT
if all you want is something that will play back ups then the Duo2 GT is only about $20
and as above, unless you are VERY GOOD with a soldering iron have it installed by a pro.
