Western Digital HD using as original PS2 HD

I was wondering if there is a way to write a new Firware to my WD hard drive (a 40GB) to make it act like the PS2 original HD. SO that it is detected when the PS2 is booted up. BTW I'm currently using the original HDLoader

What??????
If the HDD you want fits the network adaptor, fit it in and use HD loader to format the drive. Only then will the PS2 / software be able to use it.

like above. YOu can use any compatible hard drive.
Once it is formated for the PS2 with either HD Loader, or in your PC with a program called Winhiip, then the PS2 should recognize it.

Thanx for the reply but you didn't understand the question; I have HDloader and a 40GB Western Digital Hard drive (and it works great). I want my PS2 to use my HD as if it were the original $ony PS2 HDD, basically i want it to be seen in the memory card browser screen (and be detected by the games that use it ie FFXI). I just want to see if there is a way to hack the firm ware on my HD to get this accomplished.
