I am new to the game of backing up my dvd's this forum has been great. I have backed up about 10 movies using dvd decryptor to save the movie to my HD using file mode. Then I open the file with DVD Shrink. Let it analize the movie hit full back up and when it's done compressing the movie it burns with nero. I have had success with this method until I tried reauthor mode and just selected to burn the main movie. Everything seems to work fine as far as decrypting analizing compressing and burning on my PC but when I try to play them in my dvd player it treats it as a blank DVD disc.

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

How did you burn the disc (auto with Decrypter or Nero, manually)after Shrink was finished with it before and now? If everything in the program worked, I'd lean towards the whole bad disc brand/ too fast burning problem.

When I hit the backup button I choose my dvd writer as the backup target. Then when shrink is finished compressing it just burns with Nero I don't have to do anything else. I have used this method successfully several times making full backups but not reauthored backups. I only use sony and verbatum disc's.

Have you tried burning a copy of the movie with Nero using the file that Shrink makes for you? The file should be the main movie if in fact the whole process went correctly.

Have you seen this guide yet? It helps with what you are doing. It came from this website that has very many good guides.

I just tried another movie only backup just for the heck of it and it worked fine in my dvd player go figure! The only thing that was different this time was I used DVD fabdecrypter to decrypt the movie this time because I just downloaded it last night and wanted to try it. I doubt this is the reason for the change but I don't know. But things seem to be working properly now. Thanks very much for the help and I will definatly check out those guides.

@nsmith97

It could very well be that DVD Fab Decrypter solved your problem. DVD Decrypter has not been updated in a long time and new copy protection schemes have since been employed to stop folks from being able to back up their DVD's.
