After backing up my dvds with dvd shrink, I now have problems where playback will freeze at random moments. This has only started happening recently, as I have backed up plenty of my dvds before this with no problems. Anyone had this problem and fixed it before? Could not find anything in the forums on it..
Thanks

It depends on a lot of things, for instance, the dvd you are trying to copy, your drive and firmware level, what (if anything) you are decrypting it with, the media you are using, the speed at which you are burning. Provide a little more info and I'm sure you'll get an answer.

Did you just switch to a cheap media like Memorex or Imation or off brands?

I'm thinking its a worn out drive right now. It happened to me on sony media, and happened to me in the middle of a tv series set. No updates or any changes in between the burning. Since this problem cropped up (sucks that I only noticed way after) every dvd that I burned has had a problem. If I need to decrypt, I use DVD Decrypter, but don't think its related becuase this happens on straight shrink backups as well as ones that are decrypted. I tried switching to phillips, no luck.

How are you viewing those backups when the issues occur?
Stand alone player or using your pc?

Make sure your DVD-RW drive can play it's own backups using the pc. The quality of those backups should look near original in quality.

That's where the majority of playback issues occur,in stand alone players.

Find out which drive/s show the freezing playback.Make sure that backup plays ok using your pc and the DVD-RW drive to play it.

A lot of things can cause this.Knowing what drive shows the issues will narrow it down.

I first viewed it on my pc on a dvd rom drive, and the freezing occurred. Then I tired playing it on the DVD-RW drive I burned it with, same thing. Then I took it to a standalone player, no luck again. I even tried it in my playstation after that for good measure but still no good. I was thinking worn out drive because it happened to every disc after a certain one about a week plus ago. Ordered a new drive this morning, we'll see how that one works.
