Here's a quick-N-dirty guide:
This will show you a sure-fire way to copy
only the movie content of a DVD. Great for
packing big movies using minimal disks!
Toolz:
* SmartRipper (free)
* IFO-Edit (free)
* Software DVD Player (a demo would suffice)
* DVD Burning Software
(had to have come with your burner)
Steps:
1)Pop-in DVD & start-up a software player.
2)Pause the player & minimize the window.
This allows the disk to be unlocked.
3)Run SmartRipper.
4)Ensure the main movie is selected. Remove
all streams except video,1 desired audio,
and others. Split the .vob files in 896MB
pieces (maximizes usage of 4.7 DVDR disks)
5)Keep only the resultant .VOB files and run
IFO-Edit. Create Ifo's with the program.
6)Burn the resultant files with NERO or
other software.
That's about it! EnJoy! :)

IFOedit is most definitely not needed.

No.2 in that guide DVDouble needs DVD Player stopped/paused then closed (not minimized) before continuing w/ Smartripper.

Only software needed for DVD Copy are (IMHO):
Smartripper
DVD2one or DVD Shrink (if a DVD-9)
Nero (or whatever came w/ burner)

Herbsman, why are you so strongly against IFOedit?

Yes, you can do the job with just SmartRipper and DVD2One, but there are some downsides to that. First, DVD2One is not free. Second, DVD2One is not the most stable of programs. Third, you have less flexibility with your IFO/BUP files (region free, deMacrovision, etc).

While you stand behind the SmartRipper/DVD2One combo...I see nothing wrong with a SmartRipper/IFOedit combo.

I agree with herbsman....why confuse yourself if a simple task can be achieved by dvd2one? IMHO herbsman's "start to fininsh" process is the simplest.
