Hey all -
Okay. I bought a set of Magic Keys 2 to use with my black slim PS2, but now I think that maybe I should have bough the original Magic Keys. I'm not sure if my black version is the old or the new one since I bought it used a little over one year ago. But the magickeys site says that Magic Keys 2 works with all slim PS2s from V12 on, so I should be all right, shouldn't I?

It should work - the easiest way is to install it and find out.
To find out what version your PS2 is, look at the bottom of the PS2, there's a sticker and you should find something like SCPH-7xxxx

Hey guys... i have ordered a Magic Keys II 3.8 and it should arrive shortly... the problem is, as i dont usually order hardware or anything, i didnt realise there was a distinct difference between PS2 and PS two... so, as i have a PS2 i am now freaking the hell out bcoz i dont know whether this magic keys will work on mine. There has to be a way to install it still right? Like, unscrew the lid and stuff? please help me out... thanks

I think the magic keys only work with the slim PS2, which is what you have?

Yeah, I have one of the slim black ones, I think it's V12. MagicKeys 2 should work with that model, right? Not just for the silver and white ones?

Yeah..the magic keys work with all the slimlines..Still think it's better to open it up and solder across the switches, but these seem like a fine product..

No, thats just the problem!!!! i dont have a slim one, i have a regular playstation 2!!!! arghhhh! I need to know whether it could still work otherwise i will just keep worrying and fretting until it arrives, and when it does i doubt it will arrive with instructions...
There has to be a way for it to still work right? Like, if i remove the lid by unscrewing, it has to be remotely the same on the inside, right? Some one please help me, i'm going crazy!

It won't work. You need a slide card with the old PS2.

OK...so you either need to use the awkward slidecard or get a fliptop case like this one..
I found the pic at http://www.chipspain.com/

If you really don't want to pay another $5-$10 on buying something, you can make a slide card, there's a guide somewhere that gives you the dimensions of the slide card, I can't remember where it is though, do a search and you'll be able to find it

You should get a slide card with the disks...every supplier I have seen provides one wether you want it or not!..I still think the fliptop cases are the best, the slide cards always seem a bit risky, feels like the drive mechanism is being forced...
