log into it as the admin.. i guess you are on windows xp home
just start the computer in safe mode and it will show admin as a login option

if i were you.. i would NEVER use a reg scan / fix tool
10/10 times you will mess up your reg.

are you having a problem that made you want to do a reg fix?
if so its best to ask what reg keys to remove.. auto fix software is a sure fire way to make you have to reinstall because of the issues they cause

I live my life one warez download at a time.

When booting press f8 several times before the windows splash shows. You should be give the options to boot normally, safe mode or others. Just had an issue with another thread, if when you get to safe mode and it asks for an admin password, if you never set one just leave it blank and hit enter. Hopefully you can get to safe mode and restore. I agree with fuggedup, don't do anything to the registry unless you really need to. The only time I access it is to delete program run keys, to keep the system processes down. Or to wipe out the hidden McNastys that some programs leave. CD.

If you have XP it is preferred to restore to a previous restore point rather than to fix the registry manually. If can not restore with the System Restore function under System Tools under Accesseries, then you can do it manually.

This site has some cool instructions on how to restore manually from a previous restore point. It has saved me a couple of times.

If your system is still working, install the Recovery Console. Actually I recommend installing the Recovery Console on every XP machine I look at.

i386\WinNT32 /cmdcon
or
i386\WinNT32 /cmdcon /unattend

If you download PowerToys for XP from Microsft and install it, under the Logon section you can set it to show the Administrator login on the Welcome screen. There is a registry tweak for it, but I do not recall where it is.

If you are using XP Pro, the registry can also be disabled from the Group Policy editor.

Start, run, gpedit.msc.

Under User Configuration, click on the System folder, you will see an entry called: Prevent access to registry editing tools. Make sure it's set to "Not Configured".
