Usually when you buy a modchip it comes with everything you need to install when I got my Xecuter 2.6 for my XBOX I got the chip, a switch bank, and more than enough wires so youy should be OK.

paul1085, you got lucky. Mine didn't have wires instructions. Nada. Besure to read closely, even ask the seller a question. You'll need a 15 watt soldering iron and a magnifying glass. It's still a chore.

Sometimes they don't though, it should tell you where you get it at. Some places also sell an install kit separately. 33 awg kynar wire is typically the standard for most of the points and 30-26 awg for the ground. It is even possible to use ribbon cable for some of them. This can be purchased at electronic component supply stores like Radio Shack. The thing is that you only need a few feet and you might get only 100. Also, the smallest resin core solder you can find, something about the size of the wire would help.

if not you can get them online or usually at an electronics shop.
But i think the above is correct, most sites i saw do not mention wires.
There are also places online that sell kits for installing chips.

I'd say they don't. Here check this out: http://www.mod-chip.com/index-cart-us.php?go=en/select_ps2_main.htm
By the way, which chip did you get.

SEND IT BACK

Magic chips are not know for being that good, people have noted many problems.
Spend the extra money and get a DMS4 Pro SE, Matrix Infinity, or Crystal Chip V1.1
The Duo2GT chip is cheaper and is a good chip too, but it lacks the free flash upgrades that the above 3 chips have.
DMS4 Pro SE - best if you plan to add a hard drive, and want the most all around chip and features.
Crystal ChiP V1.1 - Best if you plan to do a lot of online gaming with your back ups as with a hacked firmware you can get it will auto patch games to play online.

i tried a magic 3.1 and a magic V PLUS.

the magic 3.1 barely passed my expectations. it is not 100% boot rate and doesnt boot DVD R for a v7/8. VERY CHEAP though.

the other magic chip was used on a V9. easy to install, direct on the BIOS. Fast boot, looked ok to me. If your getting it cheap, then i guess its alright. if u paid like 30-40USD i highly recommend u to send it back as a crystal chip costs around that range.

Magic V works on V4-V7 at $20, why dont u send it back and get Ghost 2. its much better.
