Hey fellas,
Check out these ridiculously detailed screens of a game called Killing Day for PS3 on Gamepro.com - I never really thought things could've advanced this far in next-gen consoles!

http://gamepro.com/screen_gallery.cfm?globalid=110521

Keep in mind they are screenshots for 'potential' game (???) read into it what you will, but still it showcases the hardware well in its early stages of existence. I mean the very first PS2/Xbox etc games that were released were vastly improved upon throughout the course of the consoles life. Imagine whats in store...

Yeah same - the details are insane in the graphics. Are there terxtures of that quality on the PC yet? (Fear would be the closest wouldn't it) I mean i only have a 6600Turbo... Someone with a 7800GT might be able to tell me i guess lol...

Yeah sounds good. Elder Scrolls Oblivion is actually a very nice game to look at (If you can get the damn thing running properly!) - but the amount of money you have to constantly spend to ugrade your PC and keep up with all the new software released is a big turnoff for PC gaming, when you can just buy a console like the PS3 etc and be set for a period of maybe 5 years...

pcs' to game consoles is like comparing oranges to apples. consoles have fixed technologies in it while pcs are constantly undergoing change and improvement. also not to mention the huge functionality of that pcs have when compared to game consoles.

Oh yeah of course - but in the sole terms of gaming consoles are far cheaper to own. By the time the latest consoles are in their wind-down phase (like the PS2/Xbox/GC etc are now) the PC will have eclipsed their capabilites - I mean look at F.E.A.R and then look at some titles on the current gen consoles - there is no comparison. But a console is definitely more cost effective and less stressful. Upgrading is pain in the ass, and things always go wrong.. At least when you have a console, you know every game they release is gonna run to atleast an adequate standard (Max Payne on PS2 anyone? lol).

were not talking about current gen consules timmy were talking about the ps3 there is no denying that the graphix look better on the ps3, i really believe this is near the end of pc gaming, i mean microsoft is in talks with blizzard to get WOW on x360. nobody wants to buy a computer for 4000 and upgrade constantly to play games.

ok i admit that i love console a little bit more than pc gaming, but i think i heard someone say ps3 graphics are better than pc, well to be honest pc has already overtaken games like mass effect and assasins creed, with a game called crysis, which in my opinion and in the opinions of the people who were at e3 2006 has deffinatly got better graphics. but that game should be coming out around early 2007 or late 2006, but something even better in graphics will be coming to pc and consoles sometime around 2009, and then we will be able to see which platform is best, b/c the developers of ths game have come out and said that this game will look best with unified shader, which xbox 360 uses and pc by that time will also use, but ps3 does no have. oh and the name of the game is project offset.

True Dr Cool - my point being though, that by the time consoles are reaching the end of their lifespan, the PC is usually kicking their arse in the graphical department (hence the comparison between F.E.A.R and say a game on the Xbox like Far Cry Instincts). Though the PS3 is supposedely ahead in graphical terms right now, the chances are a similar situation will unravel; that being that by the time the PS3 is about to be superceded (PS4?) the PC will be far ahead of the PS3's capabilities (and will have been for quite a while). And so while the console always seems to be ahead at the start, in my mind it is usually quite shortlived. As for the death of PC gaming Rabbity, It's a fair point, but there are way too many hardcores out there i think - and it's easier to have a LAN with your mates on PC's rather than a bunch of large Televisions lol. I must admit though, i spend far more time in the company of a console rather than a PC when gaming (PC's provide my fix for FPS' and the occasional RPG only...)

"As for the death of PC gaming Rabbity, It's a fair point, but there are way too many hardcores out there i think"

did i say that?, well if i did then sorry, b/c i was not trying to sway that, i am a strong believer that pc gaming will live forever, mainly b/c of the mouse and keyboard and also the the ability to upgrade hardware and software. but i am happy that MS are able to uprade software, by this i mean the operating sytem.

"Though the PS3 is supposedely ahead in graphical terms right now"

all the awards for best console graphics went to bioshock and mass effect with assasins creed coming in third, what does this mean, that the ps3 is crap, NOOO, it means that the xbox 360 had a year advantage and is using it very well, b/c at the moment it has better graphics, but that does not mean its a better (hardware wise) console then the ps3. so why keep comparing the ps3 to pc, why not xbox 360 to pc, just b/c something has better hardware, and costs more does not mean it will always be better to start off with. look with your eyes not what everyone else says. (i did not mean to sound rude, and if i did come accros a little rude then sorry)

Well said Dr. Cool. Certainly no offence taken there Rabbity :) I just though your comment about Wow on 360 was in fact yours when it was in fact said by Dr. Cool. So my mistake, sorry PAL lol. I'd have to say that I think both forms of gaming will carry on for a long time - there's too many die hards of both PC and console gaming to let either market wither to the point of extinction. Also Rabbity I am going by my eyes, and with the exception of Gears of War, there really isn't much in my mind shown on the 360 that appeared better graphically than what i have seen on PS3. In fact some of the games I've played on the 360 have been underwhelming. At this point I am not judging by hardware, rather what I see - and in your case you are judging what platform has the best graphics by rankings at E3 - you are going primarily on other peoples opinions then? Not in fact what you see tut-tut... I don't mean to be rude either, I am just simply pointing out that opinion is a strong thing, whether it be your own or someone elses, it can influence what you say atleast to some degree. There really isn't much wrong with that either.

well said but when you say that you are you are kinda dissapointed with xbox 360 games at the momment, well all i can say to that is i completely agree, and i, like dr.cool, would also be selling my xbox 360, but after seeing some of the games at e3 i think not. i did not read the reviews of guys at e3 and say oooh i will beleieve them, i already knew those games would be good, like mass effect, bioshock and gears of war, but i never knew they would come away with better awards then the ps3 games like assasins creed, so basically i had an overall asumptionm going into e3 2006 that both consoles will produce great games graphicaly and gaing wise, but coming out of it, the reviews just made it clear that xbox 360 is just as good as ps3. but one thing you will never catch me saying is ooohhh the ps3 games sux, they have no exclusives and that the xbox 360 has loads of great games and will pawn the ps3.
thanks for reading.

No worries mate, thats why I'm in the forums - to hear advice and opinions from fellow gamers/burners/p2p users like yourself. I just don't know what it is about 360 - there is nothing that makes me want to save and buy it yet... Halo 3 will change that in time of course. As for PS3 i want to play the new Final Fantasy, MGS and GT etc, and as for the Wii I just want to experience a different type of gameplay with their controller - and I love Zelda and SSMB - and at such a price why not? Xbox 360 for me at the moment seems a bit middle of the road. I'll still get one lol but not as soon as i thought i would.

yeah at one point last year after e3 2005 i felt the same, but then i saw something i wanted on wii, whcih is absolute fun, and great fun when your friends come round.
i saw the ps3 which has its new online abilities (which is very important to me) new games, sequals, and great graphics and i firguered i wanted that too.
but i saw the xbox 360, and at the time like you, did not see anything i wanted apart from halo 3. but then i got one anyway, saw the (os) and loved it, saw games like cod 2 and then saw games like GRAW and realsied that devs were starting to get better at using the xbox 360 and that the graphics will only get better. and then started doing reaserch into future games, and found so many now that i want, and best of all these games are nothing like wii games or ps3 games and personally if anyone has the money then go for all three consoles, b/c they all give somehting, even if it is not yet visable in xbox 360 at the momment. you will remember me when the xbox 360 is producing great games and you will think "if only i listened to that guy then, oh well he dead now." hehe
sorry about the spelling, i can not touch type.

lol I can't touch type either. I have all three current generation consoles and plan to get all 3 again - kills off arguments and there are exclusives on each console that warrant there purchase (for me there is anyway). Did you own all 3 last time round Rabbity? From your Signature it looks like you definitely had an original Xbox and perhaps a gamecube for the Mario games? I'm starting to doubt you owning a PS2 lol...

well put it this way, no i did not own a ps2, but at the time there was no such thing as fanboys (well that i have heard of anyway) everybody bought what they liked, i loved the n64, sega and ps1 so i had all three, but when the next gen came after that, i just could not see anything ps2 had that i needed at the time and could not really get on ps1, it still had two controller ports, any nothing else really changed, except for graphics, it was just asif we were spoilt by ps1, and when ps2 came along it was just not good enough for me. i thought the same of the dreamcast, but at least there was still a massive difference in graphics compared to the previouse sega console. but when i played gamecube, i played fun games like super smash bros melee, and mario cart whcih made me really want the console, but it was then that i went to a friends house just after he had bought an xbox and played my first game, a little game that at the time had no hype, it was called, motercross, no only kidding it was halo, now this game for me was nothing i had played before, not only was it fun, but it had great co op and pretty good graphics for that time.

Yeah that is a pretty cool Signature. ALthought he Hardware didn't impress you for PS2 (how you spoke of similarities between PS1 and so on), was there not one game you thought would warrant your purchase of the PS2? I'm in a boat similar to Dr Cool - had all 3 platforms and had most of my games on PS2...
