Hi,
Is there anyway to find out if the DVD being backed up has these new protection codes. thanks scott.

Most rippers will indicate whether copy protection is evident or not and whether it is the normal CSS or structural. Get AnyDVD and you won't have to worry about it. AnyDVD will also tell you exactly what kind of protection is evident. You could also google the title. Chances are if it's something new it will be discussed at Afterdawn as well.
