I feel kind of dumb writing this with all the tutorials and threads out there already covering this, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not. I'm trying to backup games using the Action Replay method. I'm using an NEC burner (supposed to be the most compatible) and Ritek G04 DVD-r (said to be the best), and every time I get to the point where I insert the back up, the disc spins for a while, then clicks, then stops. I've adjusted the POT in intervals of 50 from 400 to 150, and it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas, or is my Gamecube just cursed?

Nothing yet, huh? Oh well. I'm ordering some mini dvd-rs to see if that will do the trick. I also know that it's not the image file because I've tried several, including one I ripped myself, and I've used all the appropriate burning instructions using Nero 6 and Imgburn.

I too had this problem. The pot tweak fixed it, but I think my laser is at a dangerously low resistance. Been using it for about a year now though, no problems.

What setting did you change your laser to?

SUCCESS!!! Kind of. The Mini-DVDs worked! I've gotten a few ISOs that won't run, but that may just be because of the file.

For the purpose of this, you don't. It's the laser in your gamecube that gets changed, not the laser in your burner.
