Hi, I'm new here and am having a problem with playing movies after burning. I had the Nero problem of not being able to burn with the latest updated version and used the tips here to go back to an older version of Nero. That worked fine as the DVD's will now burn but when trying to play them in my DVD player (JVC), I get the message...."Cannot read disc." If I play it on another DVD player (Sony), it will work.

I've never had a problem with DVD Shrink until I updated my Nero. I'm using Maxell DVD-R discs but I don't think it's a media issue because any movies that I put in that I burned before having the intial Nero problem, all still work using the exact same media. I've uninstalled and reinstalled DVD Shrink but the same thing happens. Why would it work on one player and not the other and why would my old burned copies still work on all players if it's a media issue, having used the same media?

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me insane. Thank you for your time.

The problem is probably Nero and not Shrink. Nero is the burn engine, not Shrink. Uninstall Nero and Reinstall it. What version of Nero did you upgrade to? Some of Nero's latest are buggy.

I upgraded to 6.6.1.4 and used the tips on this site to go back to 6.6.0.18. I just noticed that my Nero cover designer looks screwed up so maybe it didn't work properly. I think you're right and I'll just uninstall everything and reinstall......then buy more discs as I've wasted a whack of them.

After you uninstall 6.6.1.4, and before you install 6.6.0.18, download and run the clean tool:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

Otherwise, you will have problems.

Definitely go back to 6.6.0.18 (good version). And run the clean tool for 6.6 before install. You can get 6.6.0.18 here:

If you have Nero Suite, be sure to also download the NVE3.1.0.25 that's NeroVision which contains Recode.

I finally got some discs and tried everything again after removing Nero and reinstalling. Everything's back to normal so thanks for the responses and help Garmoon and Waynekusa.
