Hi

I would like to run a hard drive off of a ps2, ie load the games to HD & run them.

I can't see the wood for the trees to found out how or what I need. I'm doing it to save the laser. I think its going.

I have a sliver ps2 slimline (Pal/UK version), mobo 1.1 chip. I have an IDE to USB cable plus a few HD's
I've heard that network adapter are faster at loading games than USB.
Do I need ordinal discs ??

So any help + pics would help..

Cheers
Homer

actually they have FTP programs and FTP servers for PS2
The FTP programs goes on the PS2 and the server goes on the hard drive in the PS2. Then you can transfer games to the hard drive from the PC to PS2 via a crossover cable or wireless connection if you have one.

Installing them via USB will be slower than using Winhipp on the PC, but that program requires you to take out the hard drive and put it in the PC when you want to load games. And FTP set up like above will also be faster than USB

The best way is sort of an expensive venture.
You need a IDE hard drive, A DMS4 Pro SE mod chip installed ($50 for chip and $35-$50 for an install), and an HD Combo case ($50-$60 plus install) the chip, case and hard drive can all be installed together by one place like Teammodders.com)
With those you could format the drive, and install games strait from the DVD Drive to the PS2 hard drive all with the firmware (ToxicOS) that the chip runs on. It would have a lot of featutes similar to owning an Xbox.

thanks,,

I've burned a copy of USBextreme to a CD.
I get a blank screen when it loads up without a hard drive connected..
Would that be right or should something appear on the screen anyway ?

No,,
no hard drive connected to the usb, just trying the disc out.
as to a dummy file on the cd don't know. it was a cue bin file setup for burning, so I would think so..
