Hi, i'm planning to buy DVD burner. But i don't know which one to buy? DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW? Which one is better? Thanks for your opinion.

I think there is no clear winner, every standard has advantages with respect to compatibility and performance. To my best knowledge and experience:

- DVD-R compatibility is the highest and the blanks are the cheapest;

- +RW format has some advantages on -RW (faster writing and fixating), so it is also valuable for backups other than for films and generally better if you plan to use rewritable media (keep always compatibility in mind, you are not guaranteed that your player will read +RW)

I have a dual Sony drive (does both +/-RW) and by now I am happy with it.

I also have a Sony drive -- the 500AX -- which I love. It is very nice to have something that writes both formats: My pioneer 525 DVD player will play just about anything (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW -- I haven't tried DVD-RW yet, but can guess it shouldn't be a problem). My friend's Apex player won't read DVD+R or DVD+RW.

Also another thing about the Sony drive, it really doesn't like low quality media, I've had the best luck with major branded media (Verbatim, Fuji, etc).
