I have just come back from Malaysia where I purchased some games and was sold a M-2 MP188 chip which would allow my son to play to play the games on his PS2. I was told this was an easy case of soldering Trouble is, I have gone onto the website they provided for instructions, http://www.world-chip.com, and a) think it looks really complicated and b) don't know if I was sold the right chip. Does anyone out there know how to chip a PS2, and whether I have been sold the right one. My PS2 has SCPH 50003 at the bottom and presumably a V9 PS2. I would appreciate any feedback as I have one disappointed son on my hands who has been stuck with lots of PS2 games which he can't play.

Thanks.

The installation instructions don't appear to be any different than any other modchip installation. Just make sure you habe the right tools for the job. I can't say whether or not you were sold the right one because I've never heard of that brand before and the thing is you have to be careful of cheap imitations that are only going to cause more trouble in the long run. Read this link for more info on good chips: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/304534 It's not a particularly complicated feat to pull off, plus the sense of satisfaction you get from doing it and seeing the results is awesome. If you're still stuck though, the are professional installers all over the place.

i've heard of the M chips. They are not imitations, but could really be low quality ones. anyway the chip u got there is not for v9.

if ur thinking of getting another one since the M-2 doesnt work on v9, i suggust a Duo 3 which is cheaper, has the reputation of being very stable for its price and has the basic functions without any hassle. does not boot dvd rw though.
