I went out of my way to find wide screen supported games for my new plasma; even after wide screen enabled I see black bars on both sides of thhe screen. I am confident this will cause burn in. The only solution I see is to use zoom. But this feature cuts out some picture from the top and bottem not to mention reduced clarity. PLEASE HELP!!

Actually the newer Plasma TV's should have better technology and not have any burn in. They move stationary things just a hair every few seconds so that it doesn't sit in the same place all the time.
I have a 56" DLP TV and have seen no problems at all with games fitting the screen. check your ratio and see what it is set at. I know using zoom mode does the same thing on mine as well.
but it should be something in the settings
have you tried it without widescreen eneabled? if so what do you get?
also with a nice TV like that, if you have not already, you are going to want to trash those stock composit cables it comes with and get a set of component cables for your PS2. this will give you better picture quality
