Hey,

I came across these Ritek Mini DVD-RW discs & was wondering what type of dye is used in these? Are these -RW's using the same G04 dye as the -R's?

If they are there just might be a possibility that they may work in the cube....

They are the same brand ritek/ridata so I don't see why they won't work if they have the same purple dye....only way to find out is to try.

So has any one come across or own & used these discs? If you have, your opinion on this would help greatly!

Any help is appreciated.
Cheers!

Nearly everything nowadays that reads struggles to read DVD-RW (Except from the minority of PC DVD Drives) but if you planning to do backups for PS2, XBOX or Gamecube definately go for the -R and not -RW.

I'd of thought with Ridata they'd be either a Ritek dye or CMC MAG.

Not a very good choice for longitivity, theres actually some 1.45GB Verbatims knocking about which would be your best bet, if you live in the UK I'v got just the place to get them.

Paul or anyone else, I would appreciate pointers to anywhere UK based that provides solid, GC compatible media.

Paul,

I actually use DVD-RW alot on my Xbox and PS2, my friends Xbox can only read DVD-RWs now. We have had better performance with DVD-RWs.

Sorry mate but thats complete rubbish if you use decent media such as 8x rated Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims DVD-R and compare it with DVD-RW then you will notice the fact that every single backup done on the -R media will work however that done on -RW media you'll be lucky if 1 works out of a hundred, PS2's and XBOX's struggle to read the rewrite format however the top dyes that come with todays DVD-R offer much more compatability, just have a gander round the forums and you'll notice all the people wondering why -RW more often than not does'nt work.

Smelialac heres a link to what I would of thought offered the best compatability in the short list of mini DVD-R manufacturers;

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=1003

Two good things about these;

1. There Verbatim,

2. If you have a printer that can print discs then your onto a winner.

Take care.
