Can't get the buttons to function in the DGEN 1.5

Well I downloaded the latest DGEN which is 1.5 from its previous upgrade (1.4) and the when I downloaded a game (Streets of Rage), I can't press start or nothing, it goes to the demo and what not. Any idea on how to get the buttons to work, sorry this is my first time using this emulator.

erm before u load the rom press the right trigger a couple times and theres a key config option. give it a try because when i downloaded 1.3 my key config was messed it mite just b a bad one...
