Good, I'm going there now. And yes, Nexxtech does just fine. No media has broken down on me.

Forget you Pepsimaxxx. Anyway, the limit there is 4, so that's how many packs I bought. Thanks, just wish prices like this was an everyday thing.

NexxTech is crap.

A friend of mine likes to use those and i have to try and make copies on to TY discs because after a week or two all of a sudden they will stop playing on his dvd player. :)

Dvd shrink + NexxTech ="cyclic redunancy check".

Well, what I do is put them in jewel cases. They still work for me, I have about 300 thanks to today's investment. I just put in one to make sure what you said was true. For me it isn't, but I do wonder how people consider disks crap if they don't take care of them. Does your friend take care of them? If not, then try jewel cases and post back in about a week. Not trying to be mean or anything, but I think that will work.

Well this isnt a one-time occasion. Probably two dozen at least. And theyre in jewel cases too so i dont know.
If those were my discs though id rather be safe than sorry and buy high quality right off the bat.

Think of cheap media as the Wal-Mart brand of All-in-one cleaner. Both the store brand and the name-brand do the job. The name-brand is just preferred by more people. And the store-brand is cheaper. Now, if we could get Circuit City to do the same with TVs, DVD players, and DVD media ;O.

This is not a 'Taking Care Of Your Disks Issue' its not about the disks.. i actually think that TYs scratch pretty easily. the reason Nexxtech blows is because the dye of the disks and what not..i hear its just about as bad as memorex.

I have about 200 nexxtech discs left and i dont use them now unless a family member wants a copy of something or if im testing a project i put together or something. i wouldn't say the media is as crappy as people make it seem considering i've burned a couple hundred of them and didn't get hardly any coasters. i will say that the dye does suck because i put a recently backed up disc in a white paper sleeve and wrote on the back of the sleeve very lightly then took the disc out and u guessed it what i wrote was faded into the die highly visible. now it wasnt a good idea to write on the sleeve with the disc in it anyway. i have also had one disc not want to load up after a couple months. personally i dont think this media is crap as far as getting finished burns but i do think the die sucks because you do notice some small portions of the video being scrambled after viewing them after a couple weeks or even the first time. I am currently re-backing up my media on verbs and TY's, I get better Quality scores with the verbs and they load up alot faster on my standalone player. while verbs and TY's are both great media my nec ND-3540A with 1.04 firmware just loves verbs better. Like i said earlier i have never had a real issue with failed burns with nexxtech but the die on the discs i'm sure isnt that great luckily for me i found this forum and all the great people on it to learn about media quality so that i began to back-up all my cmc-mags which most of them are not even half a year old. What i'm trying to say is i don't wanna be a year or two down the road and my back-ups dont play. In the end if after a year or two all your media completely craps out or has huge erros because of the faded die you will have lost far more money when you realize you have to buy better media to re back everything up. If you dont have that problem good for you but why not spend the couple extra dollars on better media just to be safe.
