I purchased a computer six months ago for my son, the computer is a Disney cased computer. He is running low on hard drive space and need all programs. So I back them up on a dvd data, and wanted to change the hard drive, but I'm use to using the floppy to get to DOS and installing a new hard drive and operating system. So my question how do you install windows xp on a new hard drive without a floppy drive to get to DOS? Does anyone know how?
Buy a second drive, put the jumper on "slave", make sure the other hdd is set to "master", put the new HD in on the same IDE cable as the other drive (with the power off, of course.) Make sure in the bios that the IDE channels are set to "auto", and close the case and reboot.
