wuddup, ive been wondering, with the psp mod chip coming out, does anyone else have a problem with this? My problem is that people should legally buy most of their games, because it's morally right and it supports the system and developers. Don't get me wrong, I have 1.5 and a few downloaded iso's, but for the most part i try to actually buy the game itself. whats going to happen to sony now? especially since they've tried so hard to prevent something like this. I personally don't think it's right to distribute this chip, because can you imagine all the 2.0+ users that are going to be like"oh mann, thats sooo sick, i can't wait to get it so i don't have to actually buy any REAL games anymore" and then they buy it and stop purchasing actual games, and stop supporting sony(the maker and distributor of psp).when i think of it, if too many people buy this chip and stop buying real games, is it a possiblity that sony might stop producing the psp because of the lack of game purchases and what not? The mod chip is a great breakthrough, but the results might be f*cked up overall...iono

So you can honestly tell me you buy every game that you download and that you buy every mp3 that you have in your song collection. Don't give me that shit. If you don't use ISOs and believe it's morally wrong then prove it. Upgrade to 2.0+ right now because everybody that's on 1.5 uses it for ISOs and not homebrew. Less than 10% of people with PSPs know about homebrew so Sony barely ever notices it. Not only that but with the price of the modchip and the soldering skills required to install it it'll be like a drop in the Ocean to Sony.

a drop in sony's ocean? not even, think of ps2 modchips and what not, im 99% sure that all the places selling bootlegged ps2 games and w.e. are gona start hacking psp's with that chip, prolly boosting the price up an extra 20-50$ to the average person for installation.as for mp3's, i could give a fuck about supporting record labels, its the artists i'd rather support, and considering they only get a small, very very small(a few cents) for every cd sold, if i bought everysingle cd and song in my collection, they wouldnt get all that much money, but yes, i do buy most of my games, songs(cds)for your information. and who's to say that ONLY 10% know about psp homebrew, thats a closeminded and ignorant view fuh real, what do you know about the statistics? as for sony barely noticing it, if you haven't realized, sony's been doing its best to prevent any hacking of the latest firmwares, so think about it. just bootleggers offering to install psp mod chips(making it more popular as time goes on) will obviously, undoubtley have an effect, whether on a slightly damaging scale or a large one. but you cannot honestly say that this won't affect sony much

Wow. Your pointless lecture rubbed off on me and now I'm partially retarded. Look at the stats. It's a given that a very small percentage of people know about homebrew. How do you know record labels only give their artists a few cents for every cd or song sold. That's a closeminded and ignorant view fuh real. What do you know about the statistics?

Yea and my parents work for Sony and its a statistical fact that around 10% of PSP owners know about homebrew. Don't you feel retarded.

Hollowtip, you and many other are freaking out about this mod chip saying how its the end of the world. You know that this sort of thing isn't new don't you. Do be so naive. Both playstations had chips out for them. And they sold many, many, games and systems still. Xbox 1 and now xbox360 are both cracked and I don't think microsoft is going anywhere. Gamecube's been chipped for a couple of years now and they're still going strong. It's ignorant to think that Sony wont feel an impact from this but I'm not too worried about this being the catalyst that ends sony. I also believe that this is a drop in the ocean. There have been studies before where they have shown enormous increases in sales when modchips for certain consoles have come out. I know personally several people who haven't purchased a PSP yet because they knew that they couldn't run homebrew.
I do agree with you on the moral issue and supporting the company's that make the games. What I can't stomach is paying 40-60 bucks for a game that I play twice and never touch again. I usually download the game and if I'm interested enough in it I will most assuredly go purchase the game to support the games creators. That point I agree with.

Quote: I have 1.5 and a few downloaded iso's
How can u bitch about thirst's comments when u admitted u ILLEGALY downlaod ISOs. Dont whine about other ppl driving the prices of games up when u urself are taking away money from the producers of games. I also own a 1.5, but unlike many psp owners, bought my psp as a 1.5, and am happy that I can run homebrew on it it. I own 2 games, DBZ Shin Budokai and Burnout Revenge, both of which I BOUGHT. Like previously posted, both ps1 and ps2 have survived after mod chips being released, and the psp will do the same. Please dont flame others when u admit u download things(ISO's) u beleive will ultimately ruin Sony, thats just stupid.

Yes sony will loose money for the modchip but last time i check sony is a company that make just about anything not just psp and also has 2 systems that have modchips available but is still selling good.
Sony
.PS1
.PS2
.PS3(When it comes out)
.PSP
.Digital cameras
.Stereos
.Tvs
.Cd players
.Mp3 Players
.Memory Cards
.Music Industry
.Movie Industry
.Programs that sony makes
.Much much more
Sony will never go broke because they sell just about anything. I do feel bad that when u get a game and don't support the makers that is bad. But yes i do support the ones that make the games.

Most people will not buy mod chips, it is only a small percentage of the user base. I never bothered with em cos I didn't like the idea of opening my machines up and waving a red hot poker inside, my practical skills in such areas are akin to that of a 2 fingered orangutan. Thats why I like the PSP cos the hacks are software based.
Piracy will always happen, thus far it has failed to prevent companies like Sony and Microsoft from making a good profit.
I'm with Thirst, at least he's honest about it.

and also you know like artists dont get much for their songs i.e. like you say a few cents.
i dont know if this is true but i dont think sony get that much from games its the game developers that get the most surely plus sony already got a huge fee out of most of us we all bought the psp
but at least you said something about how you feel and make sure you stick by your views the main reason why people would argue is because they dont like to hear that they are pirates i mean thats what we all are pirates im sure in some way or another.

yeah im pretty sure that evry1 does some form of pirating these days lol. damouk dont get me wrong im completely agree with what ur saying but if the game developers r losing more money then sony that doesnt make it right morally fact is they still went 2 a lot of trouble 2 make them and they still aint making however much money they should be.

i don't believe it will make much differnce
look at the ps2 they can be chipped
but they still sold billions of games
its probably only 5% of gamers that actually pirate games.
*shadow* just to let you know there cracking done on the size of sigs...
