Hey, does anyone know if any modchips, preferrably solderless, would work on an xbox with an error 21 and let me flash to it so that i can put the origonal dashboard on it? any help appreciated.

yes, i had error 21, couldnt do a hotswap or anything, so i bought the xecuter 2.6 with solderless adapter, only problem i had was with the screw that olds the adapter in, i wound up putting a different one in, but it works great, you also have to create a disk with bios update on it that can be done easily, i downloaded slayers installer and used that, everything works great, and if you want to use xbx live, you can turn the chip off and use it!

Thanks! So you can FTP with the xbox and replace the damaged dashboard afterwards?

I wouldnt reccomend buying a solderless chip unless your willing to spend a bit money on it. The cheaper ones are usually crap, (DO NOT BUY THE SPIDERCHIP) Instead I would reccomend buying a solder option, soldering isnt that hard, I did it on my first try. I can recommend you the duox 2 mod chip http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-xb-duox2cr Its like 10 buck and it works great.

What do you mean, flash it through? Remember, i can't flash because of the stupid error 21. I just might buy that chip.

YES, but the modchip comes with an original cromwell bios, this bios will not play back up games, you need to flash it, it is really easily done! dont worry, we can help you once you get your chip installed

well with the cromwell bios you cant jsut do that, what you need
To flash your chip using this bios you will need the bios disc you made earlier and the Eurasia Generic Pro Flash Disc 1.2. Download eurasia and burn the iso onto a cdrw or DVD-R using Nero Burning Rom. Burn onto CDRW 4X or DVD-R 1x speed. choose finalize , disc at once and no multisession. Do not use CDR's as the xbox can't read them.
Insert the Eurasia Pro Generic Flash Disc 1.2 at the cromwell screen. The BIOS disc is inserted once the dvd-rom drive opens automatically. The flash process is automatic.

well since cromwell is a linux bios, you need a linx boot cd to flash it, and thats what Eurasia is, you make youor bios disk the usual way (bios.bin and some dummy data) and then you burn the Eurasia disk, boot it up and follow the instructions.

Hey, i didn't have a choice on it. And I can always return it. Do you recommend returning it? I did not install it as of yet to see what your opinion was on it. And can someone recommend a good bios to flash to my modchip? I have many options as I am going on a trip and can wait for another one to ship to me. And that DuoX modchip is not in stock.
