softmodding and a mod chip generally do the same thing so either will work.
The only advantage i have seen with a modchip is some tasks are more easily done, like swapping for a bigger HDD with a modchip is very easy. With a softmodded system it can be done but is a bit harder

You really think so? I thought it was easier because you dont have to open the case, solder, or program a chip. Simply transfer files via pc and basically click 'run'. :0) Guess not.

evocre8r,
i was talking about upgrading the stock HDD to a new larger one.
It is a lot harder with a softmod then if you have a modchip. With a modchip it is a simple swap, then run an auto installer disc.
there is a lot more to do to swap the HDD in a softmodded system.

as far as which mod is easier, well the softmod is because most people can pull that off themselves. But installing a chip i would not try yourself unless you really know what your doing.

Yea Steimy, your right. When I upgraded my hd by softmodding, I had to take my original drive out, put it in the pc, copy everything, create a boot disc, lock the hard drive..ect.etc.. it seemed to go on and on but was done. modchip is much easier when installing a hd.

Yeah, but i am sure it was worth it in the end right :)
large HDD's rule! I love never using discs other than to put them on the HDD, and to keep in a closet as a back up.
