1. How can I put my home movies I have on VCR tapes to a DVD Disc??

2. How do I put my recordings of my Sony Hi8/Digital8 onto a DVD disc??

Now if there is free programs out there I can do it with....well i'll go that route. I am not a rich man. Or if there is a semi-cheap way of doing it..please let me know. I just want to move them all to DVD discs.

I got a TSSP DVD R/RW in my laptop.

Thank You in advance.

This is a great project and should be fun and easy. Based on your notebook and PC specs I guess you will need additional hardware to "capture" the video from your VCR and Hi8 tapes.

If by "semi-cheap" you mean less than $100 then here are a couple of good-quality video capture devices than you can try:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6872565&type=produc...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7794737&type=produc...

Each one comes with video editing software as well as DVD authoring software which should be easy for beginners.

Good luck!
