Shouldn't AnyDVD work though? I really don't want to buy more software if I can help it, any other solutions? Thanks for the reply Chrise though, I'm cheap.

DVD Shrink will remove the region encoding for you and it's free. Here is a link to the package: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/dvdshrink32setup.zip

@dmsuchy

If your copy of Flash Gordon Came from the U.K., it may be in PAL format. You may have to convert it to NTSC to play it.

If you want a completely free way to do the conversion, I understand VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm) will do it.

Here is a thread which tells you how to accomplish it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/167922

Pay particular attention to the first post.

Good Luck!

I am in the United States and I wanted to try this little problem - so I bought "Saint Joan" on ebay from a guy in France, and "Split Second" - also ebay this time Germany. Both disks are Region 2 PAL. I just ran them through DVD Shrink and burned with the Nero option. Perfect back-ups no problems. Oh, there was one - I couldn't get rid of the subtitles on "Saint Joan" so I burned another disk and unchecked the 4 languages I can't read. No tricks - just a normal backup.

@dmsuchy

Copy protection is probably why you are having problems burning it. Start here:

1. Rip it to Hard Disk using DVDFab Decrypter (http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm)
2. Process through VobBlanker (http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm)
3. Reauthor with DVD Shrink (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/dvdshrink32setup.zip)
4. Burn with ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com)

Here's a link to a guide that will give you detailed steps:

http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-movie-DVD-DVDFAB-Decr...

When you tried to copy with Nero, did you notice whether the format was NTSC or PAL? Again, VobBlanker should be able to help there.

DVD Shrink will remove the region encoding for you.

You should also be able to accomplish this in IFOEdit or possibly PGCEdit. You would need to rip in File mode though. With IFOEdit you would probably need use the "Get VTS sectors" process after you used the region free process. Here is a link that should help with the IFOEdit side of it. < http://www.ifoedit.com/rce.html >

Some people are a lot like slinkies. They aren't really good for anything but you can't help laughing when one tumbles down the stairs.

VobBlanker will work if you do it right. There's a good chance that your Flash Gordon DVD is PAL format. You'll need to convert it to NTSC. I have a Region 2 version of Braindead, which is PAL and I had to convert it to NTSC.
I'm getting a new DVD player soon, so I'm getting a region free player. I've been wanting one for a while.
