Hallo and thanks for this forum. This is my first thread here.
I have an xbox version 1.4 original. No modding at all.Lately i have been having trouble boot up this box. When i dont use this box for a long time it boots up.After used it for a time i turn it off and try to boot up and it wont boot.Only black screen.
When i put the xbox in the freezer for 10 minutes, take it out and start it up it work like charm.Put in a game and plays. When i take the game out of the dvd player sometimes it will open tray and sometimes not.
I think this xbox has a bad bios but when its cold it works ok.
Sorry for bad english.
Any comments on this?

Please stop putting your Xbox in the freezer!!! your Xbox is overheating it is designed to shut off once it reaches a certain internal temp this usually means that the fan is not working properly either replace the fan or get a cooling stand, though I have not seen a cooling stand for specifically made for an Xbox in stores in quite a while but a cooling stand made for laptop performs the same function.

Proud owner of an original release day V1.0 Xbox w/ Xenium ICE SP, Xenium 2.3.1 OS, w/ Avalaunch, Evox, and XBMC dashboards.
I can mod an Xbox in 3 minutes or less!

You can fix your fan by adding a little motor oil. Just pour some oil all over your console.

Legit to the maximum...

As shademand said dont put your xbox in the freezer anymore, and its not a bios issue (if it was shoving it in the freezer wouldnt do jacksh*t)
here are some cooling methods you can try. They might help.

http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/xbox_locks_up.htm

I would do both (You could proboly find the heatsink at the link in my profile)
btw where do you live, somwhere hot?

Tried the heatsink and fan issue mentioned in the link.Nothing works.Tried to connect fan directly to power supply and it went fast but still the same.I am thinking the power supply has some problems.
It is funny this xbox.2 minutes in the cold freezer, take it out and it starts ok and i can play.Even the dvd rom plays ok until i change cd then its starting to act strange.Seems like the dvd rom cant get enough power when its hot.
If a only had a 1.4 powersupply to try out.
I live in Norway and it is not hot here today.

Sticking it in the freezer. Now that is a new one.
Freezers have moisture, moisture and electronics do not work well together. I would not suggest you keep doing that.

Find a solution or find a repair shop. That whole freezer thing you will eventually just ruin it and have to buy a new one.

Sweet I'm a quarter Norwegian. Well you could try a new power supply, but i do still think its a heat issue. You could go crazy and have the box run open with some standard house fans running on it. Btw make sure its clean, hit it hard w/some canned air.
