so which s/w is best..so i can drag and drop..then use one cmnd to join them..
or do they need to be of same type, same bit rates, sampling rates whatever..

if its vcd to be standard it will have to be 352x240 or 352x288!

Have you tried using Vegas Video? That sw doesn't seem to give a damn about the type of video you throw at it. It will simply render all types to the final format.

Ah.. yes, expensive are they? :-)
For a free solution, you could use avisynth to resize and join the videos, then use TMPGEnc if that is what you're trying to do.

I am going to post a question here because its simular to what I'm trying to accomplish.
I can watch a video with WMP before I cut & merge with TMPGE. But I cannot watch the file after it was cut, why is that? Its still MPG right?
I want to take two files and join together (same movie, just split up) like mentioed in here. This will work, but now, how do I take that same file I just joined, because it doesn't appear to be an MPG anymore, and Re-Cut it to fit on crds?
Two 1 1/2 hr movies will require 4 crds. Now, how do I cut 'em once thev've been joined into some kind of different file type that wont appear in the "cut & merge" window?

TMPGEnc is probably the best mpeg-1 encoder around, so it's recommended. Don't encode with Nero - it's crap.
avisynth frameserving into TMPGEnc will still give you the best free solution - but boring. :-)

If the video isn't VCD standard streams, then you need to do it the long way. Just stick them all into the batch list in TMPGEnc, hit the auto-shutdown option and go to sleep.
