IMATION DVD-R PROBLEMS!!!!!

hey i have a DRU-500A and ijust bought a 25 pack of imation DVD-R blanks (DVD recordable/data DVD-R for general version 2.0) and im trying to copy a PS2 game with nero and when i put the DVD-R in to my burner to start copying it freezes straight away once i close the tray?????
but when i copy a PS2 game or a dvd with my DVD+RW that came with my DRU-500A it works perfectly
but when i use the imation DVD-R copy a PS2 game using nero or copying a dvd using DVD X COPY it freezes once i put my DVD-R in???????
also i have the latest firmware for my burner so i don't know whats the problem????

Firmware 2.0f may be buggy, as I too have problems writing onto dvd-r (I get failed burns at around 25% completion 3 out of 4 times.). I do not have similar probs when using dvd+rw media.

Since it ain't the burner, and it ain't the media (as some media work for the same burner) then its gotta be the firmware...

Just a hunch, based on nothin' scientific...

should i uninstall the 2.0f firmware for my sony dru-500a???
and see if it works with out the firmware?
