Anyone else having problems writing with dvd-r media using a sony dru 500 and firmware 2.0f?

I have no idea how it operated under 2.0c (firmware it comes with) so I can't say if this is a firmware problem.

If you have upgraded to 2.0f and you have no probs burning with dvd-r media, what media are you using?

I've tried verbatim dvd-rs and I get 1 out of 4 successful burns. Otherwise I get a burn failure at around 25% of completion using nero 5.5.10

hey im having the same problem with my sony dru-500a firmware V2.0f with DVD-R media once i insert the media into the drive nero V5.10 freezes it does it with Verbatim media also with imation media but i try it with DVD+R and works perfectly

The firmware 2.0f was desugned so that you could burn at 4 x speed +r discs.
I have upgraded to this firmware and can still burn Traxdata and Verbatim 1 & 2x speed discs.
However I have still to find a suitable 4 x speed -R disc that will burn successfully, I have just returned a pack of Datawrite 4x speed discs to www.bigpockets.co.uk for exchange as they have been deemded as uncompatible by Sony Support.
You may have to look elsewhere for the reason why you can't burn discs successfully other than blaming 2.0f.

I had this exact problem and it seems to be due to incompatibility between Nero v. 5.5.10.28 and the firmware 2.0f upgrade. I could no longer use DVDXCopy after I upgraded Nero & the drive firmware. I uninstalled Nero, and re-installed the older version 5.5.10.9 and everything works fine now.

hey i just got a sony-dru500ax and have a firmware 2.0c and would like to know do i have to update the firmware???????
also when i try to burn a dvd or PS2 game with DVDXCOPY or with NERO using a DVD-R VERBATIM AND IMATION BLANK disk my burning application stops responding and have to restart my computer or close the application once i insert the blank why does this happen????
the only time it works when i brun with a sony dvd+rw that came with my burner thats the only blank that works,should i get the sony dvd-r and see if it works ???
does my burning applications stop responding because im using the wrong media?????
