it's thicker than that spine. I'm not sure if the only way to purchase a thicker case than that is if it's a double DVD case, but that would be fine. If any of you have any criterion collection movies like Traffic, Kagemusha, ect. you'll know those are in the thicker cases, which is what I'm looking for. I don't really need a thick case that holds multiple DVDs, unless it's all they make. It's only because I have a the cover insert for a DVD on my computer and I plan on printing it out and putting it in the case. The only problem is, the cover insert's spine thickness is thicker than any standard DVD cases.
My other question pertains to making actually labels that appear on the discs of DVDs/games/CDs/ect. I'm assuming one would need special hardware/machine to create the actual design on the disc? I did fine a site that does it for you, but I wasn't sure if it's something I can do. I have the design of a DVD on my computer which goes on the disc itself, but again, I don't know if I need a professional to do this. Thank you for any help.
First, your link doesn't work.
Second, try here for cases:http://www.meritline.com/cd-dvd-case-cases-jewel-slim-double-dual... Third, never use sticky, paper labels. You can get an Epson R200, or R220 printer, for under $100. You may find one cheaper on eBay. These printers do an outstanding job of printing directly on printable cds and dvds. You can get an R220 at Sam's Club for about $80. They are worth every penny.
If you don't get a printer, to print directly on discs, use a Sharpie marker. If you use sticky, paper labels, you're asking for trouble, and will get it.
Good luck!
Will that printer literally etch the image onto the disc? If you have any stock DVD movies from the store, check out one of the discs and look at the design on the disc. That's what I want to be able to do. Here is the exact thing I'm talking about:
That would appear on the disc if I had the original.
As for the cases, I saw those earlier but I couldn't tell if they had the thick spine cases as opposed to the normal ones.
Stock DVD movies from the store are printed using Thermal Printers, which are very expensive to purchase for the average consumer. The ink jet printers JVC has already commented on are what most use with
excellent results. They want have the raised plactic feel of the thermal printed disc but they will reproduce the image you have shown on the disc pictured.
I go to wally world and buy the slim line clear cases and use them. I also put inserts in the slim lines and they work fine and save alot of room. They also have a slim line out now that is double and
works great for movies like spiderman #1 & #2, etc. or tv series and they are very cheap.
Camonte...........
The printed discs on store bought movies, can be reproduced, so it's hard to tell the original from the copy, if the original is a full face printing, like most are. Like Spiderman, Underworld Evolution, Firewall, and any other similar ones.
The few discs that just have the title printed on the silver colored disc, will look funny, because of the light reflecting off the silver part, when you scan it. The silver part will come out with a rainbow of colors, from the reflection. Your example shows some rainbow in the center circle, and slanted lines. See what I mean?
Most movies will print very well, with the printers I mentioned. As I said..........hard to tell the difference from the original and the copy. It may take you three or four printings, to learn the software, and get it just right. Like anything else, it takes a little practice.
