sony rw dw Q30A burns have long load time. why?

my girlfriend wanted a dvd burner and i got her a sony rw dw Q30A. it works, but the burns take forever to load on a dvd player. it just says scanning for 1-2 minutes then loads and plays normal. does anybody know why it would do this or what i can do about it. i have an nec that kind of sucks and a pioneer in mine. i have been burning for a while and i have gone through a bunch of different brands of burner, but never had any problem like this. please help..


also, i can't figure out how to add subtitles to a dvd. i have 2 srt files but i can't figure out the program that's supposed to convert it to what i would add to a dvd. i haven't felt this stupid in a while. please help. thanks
