Help!! My ps2 won't read DVD games!! CD = OK

My ps2 stop reading all disc suddenly
it keeps spining the disc but not reading
no "disc read error", just stuck at "reading disc" forever

I try to mess around the white gear to adjust the laser
now I found a spot that my ps2 can read and play CD games
but still not playing DVD
everytime I put in CD it loads and play in 5 second
everytime I put in DVD it keeps giving out some "dic dic dic" sound and not reading the disc

What version PS2 is it? Your laser may possibly be dead on the dvd reading side of things, never-the-less, it's on it's way out. I suggest you carefully adjust the dvd pot located underneath your laser and see how it goes for you. Always test with an original after adjusting.

mine is the oldest version, I bought it when it first came out 6 years ago
how do I take the laser out?

I ahve tried adjusting the lazer it never worked for me,you can buy a repalcement lazer on the net or ebay for around 50,if you dont use any USB(pen/flash drive are very fickle with most Slims) stuff or the HD(USB HD might work but the slims have no other HD support) beside thos 2 things the slim lines are pretty well...now that I think about it the slims also have 10%ish lesser PSX compatbilty I think as well.

Pringless, sounds like what my original PS2 started doing before it crapped out all together, your better off getting either a replacement laser, or doing what i did and find another ps2

it's not the problem of the media and crappy discs
I'm trying the original games, not backups
anyway, I'll take it to repair and let those people change the laser for me since I don't know how to change it myself

You didn't read all of my guide.. it shows you exactly how to clean the laser and how to re-align it.. look at it again..
