When I try to back-up a movie it informs me that the temp storage folder 1.9 MB is to small for the 4.7 MB or what ever movie. This just started happening I never had this problem before recently. Can someone please help?

Hello MikieMike.

Are you out of space on your hard disk drive?

What programs are you using?

I did not think so but I went to check anyway and you are right I am out of space on my harddrive. There must be something overtaking my harddrive. What would have overtaken my harddrive? I did not load any new software programs. I just recently started recieving this message. I have a 40 GB drive. Any comments?

Try to remove all your tmp files. Remove any programs that you do not need. Also Windows is constantly making System Restore backups which can ad up to a lot of space. You can turn off System Restore which will delete all restore files. Then turn it back on which will create a new restore point. Do this only if you are sure that your system is running correctly.

Last but not least, get a second hard drive. They're cheap.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

40GB is not a lot these days. If you have a laptop or a desktop and no space for another larger drive, you can always buy an internal drive and put it in an external enclosure yourself. It takes about 5 minutes to do so. If you have a fairly new system you should have USB2 or firewire or both. Either FW or USB2 will work fine. USB1, won't work well at all. The bandwidth is too limited.

Dialysis1's advice is sound. First empty the Trash if you haven't done so. Next go through the drive, especially My Documents and remove everything unnecessary or archive it to DVD if you want to save. If you have a lot of stuff in My Pictures or My Videos, it takes up lots of space. Use the Add/Remove Programs control panel and remove any programs you really don't use any longer. After all this is accomplished, defrag your disk drive:

Open My Computer
Right click on the HDD icon
Select Properties
Select Tools tab
Click the Defragment Now... button

Even if you get another HDD you should Defrag on a regular basis.
