Hello,
My PS2 wasn't in use for more than 7 months, its a ver V10 or V11 SCPH-50004, It has never before given any problems. It was working fine when I last played it. Playsation is MODED but it dont know which chip it is(is there a way to tell??). Normally I wouldn't go through with this trouble and have it repaired but the guy who does the repairs is out of town and will come back after two months. I dont trust other repair guys so now I can either wait for the guy to come back(by the time he comes back vecations will be over :( ) or try to fix it my self.
Now for the problem:
All the Disc tried are either Backups or Bootleged.
It ain't booting; When I put a DVD game in and restart it indetifys it and goes to black screen with out any trouble but the playstation logo doesn't come. After a few sec's it either goes to Red screen directly, insert PSX cd or PS2 CD / DVD, or it first goes to browser saying reading disc and then to red screen.
If I put the dics in at browser it itentifys the dics ( disc logo comes) if I select it, goes to black screen, after a few secs it goes to red screen.
> It plays Audio CDs / CD-r's without any problem.
> I tired PSX CD still no good.
> DVD moives are indetified, when playing it says unable to play dics.
I have run out of ideas. I tired to clean the lens that just made it to read a bit better. No change to the problem. I dont have experience with solder iron so I can't mess with the mod chip.
Any ideas and suggestions are welcomed... :)
