3250 memory card woes - - - HELP!

I have just recieved my brand spanking new 3250, and all is well except the phone does not recognise when I insert the memory card - it's like it's not there.

I'd much rather not have to send it back for repairs - having just recieved it and all, but if I must, then I must?
