Hey people, am a newborn here. I have done everything in powers to burn movies. Even bought a fast as hell NEW comp. What i did was to take out my i/o magic from old pc and put in new. Loaded DVD Shrink v3.2.0.15, and Roxie EasyDVD Copy. At first it let me burn, BUT not let me playback on any of my dvd players or pc dvd player at home. Than upon consulting I/O magic, they said to load DirectX and do Firmware (I don?t know what?s that for by the way, but just did what they said) NOW the bloody thing will do Shrink, go to burn and within a few minutes the ?write error? pops up. I give up after sleepless nights! PLEASE HELP.

Hello dakrish,

If you don't have DVD Decrypter, you can download it from the link in my signature. We need some info from that program.

Start DVD Decrypter.
Under the Mode menu, change the mode to ISO -> Write.
Place one of your blank DVDs into the DVD burner.
Post back to this thread exactly what is contained on the top line of the right hand column in the DVD Decrypter main window. It should be the precise name of your DVD burner and firmware version.
Farther down the column is a line header, DISK ID:. What media code follows this header? Post it back to this thread.

What software are you using to burn, Nero, DVD Decrypter, or Roxio?
What is the brand, type (+R -R), and rated speed of the blank media?
At what speed are you burning?

Most problems of this type are the result of poor quality media being used, out of date burner firmware, and burning too fast, as well as out of date software.

Hello there Laddyboy, THANKS for your wonderful help. Its much appricated.

I have DVD Decrypter, and tried the same way yesterday. Went through Shrink and it asked me to burn via Decrypter, I prompted ?yes?, but that silly ?write error? message came up, as it did when burning Roxio. I will follow your instructions later when I get home from work!

I think you 99% write about the name and firmware. The new PC does not say I/O magic so and so, but it say?s this ? Drive: DVDRW IDE 16X? this info I got through Nero InfoTool. I spoke with I/O magic again today, and this is what he asked me to do, ?

?Please click on link http://www.drvupdate.com/liveupdate/setup/LiveUpdateSetup.exe to download Firmware update utility. Please download and Run this utility and update your Drive Firmware. After the update please reboot your PC to apply the changes. This should resolve your problem?

So I am going to do this first or follow what you wrote?

I have not tried Nero yet, but this prob comes up with Roxio and Decrypter. Brand am using Verbamtim 16X +R disc, and speed am buring is at 16X.

I will post the whats written on the top line of the right hand column in the DVD Decrypter main window and media code follows this header, once I get back home from work.

THANKS again Laddyboy.

Dakrish.

ASPI is a problem as is burning at 16X. A good rule of thumb is to burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the media, so 8X or slower in your case. Verbatim is very good media.

It never hurts to have the most up to date firmware so I would update it for sure.

Here's a link to forceaspi:

Here's another to Nero's aspi:
