Burnt DVD starts then stops 20 mins later

I have just purchased DVD X COPY and after I have burnt a backup copy of a DVD, it will only play on my notebook for 20 mins and then the program just shuts down. They plaback perfectly on a standard DVD player, the problem only exists on my notebook. I am running XP professional with a sony DVD rom/ burner. I have tried using WIN DVD and WMP9. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
