Well I acquired a 25 pack of memorex dvd+r dvds, and they always seem to fail on the later stage of the burning. Don't worry I'm not dumb enough to go out and buy a pack of memorex disks (based on what I've ehard about them). But a friend of mine bought them during a closing sale at a store thinking they would work on his computer (he doesn't even have a dvd burner). So I acquired the pack for free. Is there any particular reason why these don't want to work? Or is it just a lost cause?
I assume you are talking about single layer DVD+R's. Dual layer DVD's typical fail at the layer break if your firmware does not natively support the disc.
Please post a log from the failed burn, and we will try to determine the problem.
Oh yea I forgot alot of info. Alright I'm gonna try another one and if it fails again I'll post that log a little later on. THus far I've tried to burn with Nero (data dvd) and DVD Shrink.
the better media is Made In Japan (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell, to name a few) and the Verbatims that are made in Taiwan are also top notch.... the only exception to the MIJ rule!
Second rated media isn't too bad either...... but stay away from CMC MAGS! they just sux! LOL

I had problems in the past when I was a burning newbie. Then, something magical happened. I saw the light. Well, AfterDawn showed it to me.
I think the solution to your problem is pretty simple...Buy better Media. If you are using Memorex, Imation, or a variety of generic brands , chances are they are made by CMC Magnetics. Stay away from them. When I burned CMC media, about 33% to 50% of them gave me burning errors and I had my FW up to date.
