I use Kazaa lite and am getting a bit fustrated with it. Firstly the download speed is very erratic as in if I sit there and click Find new source for download it is quite quick. If I leave it overnight however it drops down so it is dead slow. I have got the advanced settings on so it does look for the "quickest" route every 30 sec. Is there anything else I can do to speed this process up. Secondly, I have been totally mislead by the titles that people give to the files, I downloaded three big files all of which were not what I wanted. I tried to preview them but your not always able to do that.

Is it worth changing to eMule or DC++? I want to be able to download files which are what they say they are, quickly and of good quality?

Any suggestions..........

how much slower is it? I've got a broadband connection 560kbs and on kazaalite it is around 50kbs-60kbs when I am only downloading one film and it can be as low as 5kbs when I am not keeping my eye on it. Would I need to delete kazaa or would I get away with having both on my system while I try it out?

Thanks for you help

Try Diet Kazaa - very fast downloads and no spyware. Get it from download.com (free)

Kazaa, Kazaa Lite and Diet Kazaa are nothing to the donkey network or DC(++). It can be very slow or decont speed (im talking about emule) but one thing for sure, where quality is concerned, you wont be disappointed!!

Would this DC and emule be out of the question with a dial-up?

Sorry to disagree with you Dela. I use WinMX and eMule with a 56K connection and a 2 hour time out. WinMX is fine for small files but I never seem to be able to complete anything very large with it. eMule on the other hand is OK for large downloads. Obviously you need to be patient and I only pick files with a number of sources, the more sources the better. I?ve downloaded files of up to 400MB but it takes time. Trying to download very large files on WinMX can annoy the person you?re downloading from whereas eMule is a little more impersonal, you don?t really notice who?s downloading from you. I leave my PC and eMule running and re-connecting overnight and often find I?ve downloaded over 100MB and uploaded nearly as much by the morning. Two or three or four days and there you are. No problems with leeches on eMule either, at least as far as I can tell. Even with LeecHammer they slip through on WinMX.

Let the bonton roulay...

Just a quick note about downloading from Kazza, I found this nice little Player Called VLC that will allow you to watch or preview, thus saving you the time of making a mistake. I have used this player many times and have found it to be very helpful. Here is a link to the home page.
