ok, i'm new and i don't know how to work anything other than an .exe. this software i've downloaded isn't exactly something u can install on a installment wizard. when i right click and show the file property it just says "type of file : aplacation" i just click on it and and the comand propt just flashes on the screen and nothing happens, i go the comand prompt and type in the name of the file hopeing it dose something but, it dose not, my question is how do you work these types of files?
If you are running xp, right click on the file, select extract all, then it will lead you through an installation, you will have to specify a directory, put it under c:, or programs. If you don't have a zip extractor. go to downloads.com and just enter "zip," there are hundreds, but pick a free one, with good reviews. This is a link to WinZIP, it's shareware, but you just have to put up with nag screens. Good luck.

opk but what do i do after i extract it to program files...i understand putin it there but it dosen't function like a exe. i feel like i have use it via dos-command...i gotta know how to work these apps but i do apretiate the help
After you extract the file, go to the folder that you extracted to. Look for the .exe file. It may say setup, or the program name. Click it and the program should install itself. That should get you going.
