Hi

I too have problems with verbatim dvd-rs. They're the only dvd-rs I've tried so far, so I have no clue which dvd-r works.

I had upgraded to firmware 2.0f before burning anything so I have no idea how 2.0c worked with dvd-rs.

I thought it was the firmware that was the problem since folk don't seem to have a prob burning dvd-rs.

If I were you, try a few more types of dvd-r media before upgrading to f.

In the meanwhile I'm just using dvd+rw. A little pricier, but hey they work.

I never had the verbatims lockup the comp. It would just have a write failure 1/4 through. Using nero 5.5.10

I have not tried the DVD-R but I have used the Verbatim DVD+R 4X and DVD+RW 2.4X with great success. I'm using FW 2.0f (which is available at the Sony website: http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/index.htm DVDRW support, choose your drive for the specific page).

BTW, I've used the Fuji DVD+R (2.4x). I haven't seen a coaster yet with either. I have had bad luck with generic or house brand media.

I've had problems with -R media also from Datatrack.
All the +R media I've used work, so I'm sticking with +R/RW. Is faster anyway.
