Hello everyone once again. I usualy post X-box Questions but this time Im working on my Brothers Ps2, Heres the deal so far, He satarted with one of the bigger first models and it stoped reading games and so he got a Slim-Line Model and after reading much i Opened the case to it and heres what i found. I adjusted the Pot Laser n all that and this is what i found, The White disks only make a click and dont really spin to much from the get go, but if i drop in a Purple disk or a Psx game its off going and loading. Even after makeing the laser stronger it just sits for the white Disks. So i set everything back to origional settings and put it back together. This lead me to open the older Ps2 and in about 5 min i had it reading every game i got, is it the slim-line models just suck? I read a billion forums about the model not reading white disks right from the Box brand new! Can anyone tell me maybe how i can fix this problem? It will read a DVD movie every once in a wile, but not the games. The Ps2 is the slim-Line Black model made in i think 2005. I called sony and all they said was 60 bucks to fix it and i allready read that that is useless coz most still have the same problem. In my own opinion i think sony should take there DVD symbol off the units and mark them as Ps1's coz thats about all its good for. Please Anything would be great on this subject and im really lost on this one.

I'm no pro, but I do know that the PSTwos have major lens issues. You need what is known as a "laser fix", which prevents these things from dying a premature death. Google "Romeo Fix PS2" and you will get some info. I think V12's were the worst out of the bunch though when it came to laser quality/longevity.
Hmmmm after reading all this it just seemd that sony should call the machines PS1, I read about the ROMEO fix but that seems like to much crap to do just to Try and get this piece of sh*t to work. I seen a few diffrent ways but they really dont say how or what you need to do it. One was with a Programable chip and one as just one wire you put from the top to the other side of the board. So Witch is it? Im haveing the problem that the White disks wont do anything and dvds are the same way. If Sony Wants to make a PS2 That DONT play Ps2 Games i think they should have to replace the unit for free or the guy that made them should be Nailed to a post and eaten by Rabied Orica Whales. WTF SONY YOU SUCK ! Gee cant wate to see how much money the Ps3 will cost people in time when there machine turn in to a hunk if Sh*t. After Dealing with the Ps JEW, I only get one Conclusion, If you want a Game system that Actually plays the games made for it, with the ease of only popen in a disk and not havent to Soder the board, GET AN XBOX coz sony cant even hold there own game system above water. TOTAL TRASH and if you got a Slimline ps2 Just do your self a fave and sell it wile it still works and get an xbox. But if you really want a Slimline black Ps1 with a flip top keep it ! All i can see is that sony has only kept with there roots with this machine to basicly give you a nice CD player.

I think there's something wrong with the motherboard, because I have a slim too and it can read anything you put in it. If there's a technician close to you who knows something about slim PlayStation 2s, bring it over to him/her and ask him/her what is wrong with it.

Well As it all turns out I ended up Fixing My bros Older Larger model of the Ps and it runs Just fine and reads everything. I have to still say not to get a Thinline Model but you got a better chance with the larger Older model. Jusy look it up and youll feel the same. Thank you all for you time and Yeah my Best friend Is a rocket Scientist for NASA and he told me that the Ps2 Slimlines are trash to So there ya go ! thank you to everyone that helped me =)
