DVD-RW to DVD+R compatible

My problem might seem elementary to you. However as a newbie I dare to approach the more advanced users with this:
I recently bought my first DVD-recorder of DVD-R/RW. My plan is to use The DVD-RW:s as masters and to copy the recordings to DVD+R. As most of you must know there are two modes, the VR and the video mode. Wanting to edit the programmes I chose the VR mode, finalized the recording and copied the disk with Nero to DVD+R. So far so good, the copy played perfectly on my recorder/player. But it didn't play on other players. Now I ask myself, should I have created the masters in video mode in order to make universally compatible copies thereof? Or is there a way to copy or rip the files from the VR-mode DVD-RW in order to build a compatible DVD+R disk?
Incidentially I received from a friend of mine a DVD+R of his own making, copied it with Nero, and it played perfectly on my Funai.
What should I do?

Well firstly test your theory and see if it changes and works if you change modes.

The second thing I question is two fold what type of burner do you have and what kinda media are you using??

This could also be a factor.

there are plenty of reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players:

1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:

4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!

follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.

Too bad none of you seemed to understand my question or chose not to answer. Well I recorded a programme in video-mode to DVD-RW and simply copied it to CD+R. It plays perfectly on all DVD-players I have tested. So the only problem that remains: is it possible to convert DVD-RW recorded in VR-mode into a DVD+R video mode?

if it works fine on your RW then you should be able to transfer it to your +R. there's your answer........ now ask HOW!
