I am using a network called Limewire 4.10.9.i've downloaded some movies for my kids but i am unable to burn them to dc or dvd.I have dvd shrink, decrypter ans nero but unfortunatley not familiar with the proper burning process.I have no problems with copying straight from disc 2 disc, just not sure how to burn a downloaded file.Windows media player gave me the message "WMP cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. Can ani 1 help? much appreciated :)

i'm somewhat of a newb at this but i think that since u said it was a .wma file, u need to get DivXtoDVD the program. Then u just open the .wma file and say convert to DVD compatible. It will then after a long time encoding it spit out a few .VOB files. U then open those in DvdShrink or whatever u use and put it on the reauthor or do whatever u need after that. But DivXtoDVD is what i use and i had good luck with it when i converted a .AVI to .VOB but when i tried i think .WMA to .VOB the audio got way off sync and really high pitch. not sure if its DivXtoDVD's problem though.

Ok well im going to guess that these are AVI files using te XviD or DivX codec. So go here http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml and download the lates binary, Then install it and try palying the filem if it still doesent work try this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_avi.cfm

"i am unable to burn them to dc or dvd."
did you mean VCD?
Well anyways try using Nero again as it should work or you could follo some of the guides on this site under DVDR: Other video formats to DVDR and VCD and SVCD
Good Luck

rtouma just a heads up we don't realy don't need to know where you get your movies from, these fourms are about backing up the movies that we own not the ones that you get from file sharing you know it is that copyright thing, it is kind frowned on here just a heads up ok? the files are in most likley AVI like the other poster said if you are going to put on a dvd you need to convert them to VOB complyment files, a good program to do that is vso dvixtodvd, and also you never know what you will get on limewire you could get lucky and get a virus, also you could just go out and buy the movies and thain back them up for your kids that way you know that you are geting a good movie, good luck

actually there are quite a few movies shared publicly that have no copyrights involved. people make all kinds of stupid videos and movies and toss them out for anyone who wants them. i didn't see anywhere that he mentioned the actual titles of any of the movies, so we can assume he is not breaking any copyright laws and feel free to help him. if someone comes right out and says "i downloaded spy kids 2, how do i burn it", then yes by all means feel free to tell them what a worthless piece of crap they are. if they make no mention of anything that could be viewed as us helping someone with pirated material, we're free to give them all the help they need safely.

Ya you can, its called a VCD, but the quality is not comperable to DvD so i dont understand why you would want to do this (unless you dont have a dvd burner) seeing as how DvD's and Cd's are around the same price these days.
Try some of these gudies...
