I googled your problem and this is what I came up with:
Quote:
Primary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed message:

There are two solutions for your problem. First load the set up defaults in the BIOS Setup and your problem would be solved or use an 80-conductor cable connected in the Primary IDE socket on the motherboard with the other end connected to the hard disk. The problem is that you are probably using the old type of cable and that too in secondary IDE channel. Installing the right kind of cable in right socket will solve your problem permanently.
hope this works.

To run the IDE bus faster, the 40 signal lines are run with a ground line next to each signal. This equals 80 lines (40 ground lines plus 40 signal lines. If the computer setup is set to run the modern parts at the faster bus speed, there will be a warning message that the cable is not the proper one to do this.
Suggest buying an inexpensive 80 conductor cable, and run some of the peripheral devices at the faster speed.
