in the past i have burned many a cd on my computer, but after a problem and a system recovery, i have recently found it is no longer detecting blank cd-r's. however, at one point i was able to burn a couple cds, but now the same problem is back and nothing i do seems to help. The IMAPI CD-Burning COM service will not stay started, even when set to automatic. I'm lost and not very adapt at working with computers. please help

What OS are you running. You may need to check your Device manager and make sure that you drive has the correct driver installed. If it doesn't have the correct driver then remove it. Reboot the system and reinstall the driver. Windows may have used a different driver when you did the system recovery.

I know this sounds crazy, but you may not have needed to do a system recovery. Always consult problems with you PC to someone who may be able to get the problem fixed without doing a recovery. I don't know your computer background, but I have to fix computers all the time. Most of the time people tell me that the computer has not been on the Internet, but as I clean the machine I can see where they have been and what virus they made contract with.
